Here are a few posts from my cousin. They are seriously one of the sickliest families I’ve ever known yet they believe that God will heal them. I love them because they’re my kin (that’s a Southern term, y’all) but most of this is just ridiculous. It must take some strong faith to have such sickness in the family yet still trust in the Lord because to me it sounds like he doesn’t really give a flip.

In my hometown, a family’s house was burned to the ground last night. Three of their eight children were killed, and the mother is in very serious condition. So you’re telling me God was IN the fire, watching those children burn to death? Man, God’s an asshole.
Also, learn to spell “tragedy”.

The one I highlighted in red is… special. Do you ever notice that some of the people who pray for healing the MOST are some of the sickest ones? I have another person on my feed whose husband is chronically ill and ends every post about his health with, “I WILL SHOUT WITH A VOICE OF VICTORY!” I will post some of those soon.

I’m sorry, but this is probably my favorite Christmas film.

And the argument of “TBS overdid it and ruined it” is hogwash for reasons so obvious I don’t feel compelled to compile them.

…the pretense that college football is a character-building endeavor. Rather it’s an odious money-grubbing racket that chews up and spits out quasi-professional players who, with rare exceptions, only pretend to be students. It corrupts everyone connected with it. College football is little more than a giant conduit for vacuuming money out of alumni, hawking brand merchandise, and generating TV revenues.

James Howard Kunstler (via azspot)

This is really only true for the big, high-profile schools/programs, which make up a small percentage of the total number of schools that field football. I work for a small college with Division III (non-scholarship) football, and I can say without a doubt that our program builds character for those involved in it. The kids work hard and are great students; sports comes second for them.

Do not lump ALL college football in with these big Division I programs. It’s not a fair comparison at all and to imply that college football in general doesn’t benefit those involved does a real disservice to the majority of college athletes.
